James M. Rhyne, MD graduated from Davidson College with a B.S. degree in 1964. He graduated from the University of North Carolina Medical School in 1968. Following this, he served two years in the U.S. Army, and subsequently completed a residency in internal medicine.
He is board certified in internal medicine and is a member of the American College of Physicians.
Dr. Rhyne opened a solo practice in internal medicine in Statesville in 1974. He has a special interest in lipids and cholesterol. In 1997, he established a Lipid Center for clinical trials of new lipid lowering medications.
Over the years, his practice evolved into a group practice that is now owned and managed by Iredell Health System.
He and his wife, Anne, enjoy activities with the three children and eight grandchildren. He also enjoys gardening and raising registered Black Angus cattle. These animals are sold for breeding stock and some are raised on grass to be harvested as heart healthy beef.
